Workforce Development

Learn the skills you need to succeed in today’s job market. The office of Professional and Continuing Education (PACE), in partnership with the California Workforce Investment Board, offers various certificate programs, many conveniently offered online.

Financing options available include:

  • Workforce Investment Board
    The office of Professional and Continuing Education strives to remain up-to-date on all legislation, agencies and programs related to workforce development, such as the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the Transition Assistance Program (TAP). In doing so, we are able to create partnerships that will benefit the community workforce with access to training and certificate programs.
  • Military Spouse Financial Aid
    If you are the spouse of a military person, you may be eligible for up to $4,000 of financial aid through the Military Spouse Department of Defense program MyCAA. The Professional and Continuing Education department at the College of Extended Learning offers a wide variety of certificates and programs to choose from in areas such as business, education, Healthcare, technology and skilled trades.
  • Local Lending Institutions
    Various local banks, credit unions, and lending institutions now offer private loan programs specifically for continuing education. Check with your local financial institution to see what types of programs may be available.
  • Company Tuition Reimbursement
    Many companies and organizations have tuition reimbursement programs for their employees. Check with your human resources department to see if you qualify. Some companies will also pay for the costs up-front.

The College of Extended Learning is proud to partner with the California Workforce Investment Board. The overarching goal of California’s Strategic Workforce Development Plan is the reorientation and realignment of California’s workforce programs and institutions to support a dynamic and globally successful state economy that offers all residents – including the most vulnerable – an opportunity for a higher quality of life.
